How to make the most of upcoming Shows in Chicago this 2014!
Have you thought about your booth staff yet? It’s sometimes saved until the last minute, and often times filled with overworked, tired sales staff. Here are some tips to keep your employees happy in your booth for this year’s shows!
- Provide them with lots of healthy food, snacks and drinks. Convention hall trade show food is not the best quality, to say the least, and it can certainly cost you or your company top dollar. You’re better off saving some company money, and getting your employees healthier food options to help them stay alert, focused, and happy! Fill the break area with apples, veggie chips, vegetable, hummus, or fruit platters. Buy them healthy, quality sandwiches for lunch!
- Give them lots of breaks! Your sales team members probably aren’t used to the demanding trade show atmosphere. They are going to get tired. While trade show models are accustomed to standing for hours on concrete floors, they typically don’t work 40 hours a week doing so. For your sales team, it’s likely they are putting in a 60-80 hour work week if you’re doing a trade show, and standing through the shows is grueling, which leads us to number 3 and 4.
- Invest in some mats to stand on. You’ll save your back, knees, feet, and sanity!
- Trade Show Models can really help alleviate some of the pressure from your sales team. When the floor is busy, they won’t have to worry about drawing consumers into the booth. They can focus on business once attendees have entered your footprint. This also gives you extra coverage when the sales team needs breaks. Not to mention, think of all of the leads and opportunities missed when the entire team is tied up and attendees just pass by because they don’t feel like waiting. Every show, client, and brand asks something different of them.
- If you have a large team, put a system in place so you can keep track of all of your employees, so when someone comes for an appointment or is just looking for an employee, make sure everyone knows how to reach him or her and where they are in the first place. A simple sign in/out sheet with room for notes, and everyone’s contact info is a PERFECT way to do this, and your trade show model / hostess can help keep track of this for you. If your trade show model / hostess is the main point of contact, and you’re all running around like chickens with their heads cut off, give them a phone or tablet with everyones info in it so they can shoot a quick text or call to the appropriate contact if they’re needed. This will save a ton of headache amongst everyone.
